How The Dancing House Fosters Holistic Development Through Shorter Dance Sessions

The Dancer's Dilemma Is Attending Two Studios the Path to Improvement (2)

At The Dancing House, our original mission was "dedicated to the beginner student of all ages." As we have grown and nurtured our students from beginners to more experienced dancers, our mission has evolved to: "Helping all students of all ages and abilities grow into kind and life-ready humans through the art of dance."

While we now have more older students than we did five years ago, we remain committed to our roots of focusing on the beginner student. It's our specialty and the reason we love offering shorter six-week sessions for both students and their families.

How our Six Week Sessions Benefit the Younger Student at The Dancing House

1. Low Commitment, High Reward at The Dancing House

This might seem obvious, but shorter sessions allow students to explore dance without a long-term commitment which make it ideal for students who want to try all the things.   Here at The Dancing House, we want our students to try all the things including all the dance things.  With six week Sessions you become a VIP member, which makes you first in line to try another class style for the next six week session.

2. Shorter Dance Sessions at The Dancing House Prevent Burn Out or Boredom.

Let's face it: your five-year-old might not love dance as much as they thought they would. And that's okay!  With our shorter sessions, there's less risk of burnout or boredom. Kids stay excited and engaged, especially with our fun "bring a book to dance" activities that keep classes lively. As Glennon Doyle humorously puts it, “I just want my kids to be average at soccer. If they are excellent, it gets into my weekends, and I don’t want to be gone every weekend.” The same goes for our flexible six week sessions —let's keep it fun and stress-free.

How Our Six Week Sessions Encourage Well-Rounded Growth at ANY age.

Here at The Dancing House we state it in our mission - “We want our students to develop into kind and life ready humans through the art of dance.”  From the way our staff teaches and interacts with our families to how we sprinkle in our core values into our classes throughout the year.

Shorter sessions encourage families to expose their children to a variety of activities within the community. We love how dance complements other activities, from football and music lessons to academics and community groups. By trying new activities such as soccer, swimming, theater, and organizations like scouts and 4-H, students can learn about themselves, supporting well-rounded growth and development. This holistic approach promotes physical, mental, and emotional development, helping students discover their true passions.

Dance also is a huge component in helping with mental health.

This is from an article about the benefits of dance: “The study found that undertaking structured dance of any genre is generally equal to and occasionally more effective than other types of physical activity interventions for improving a range of psychological and cognitive outcomes including emotional well-being, depression, motivation, social cognition, and some aspects of memory.”

How Our Six Week Session Benefit for Families at The Dancing House

1. Our Six Week Sessions offer Flexibility in Scheduling.
We get it!  Most of our families don’t just have one student to plan around.  There are multiple students in your household and you’re juggling all the school, work, activities and life.  So our six week sessions make it a great way to try dance and still get in all the other activities she wants to do as well.

2. Our Sixe Week Sessions are Super Cost-Effective

With lower financial commitments, families can budget for other activities or try dance without a large upfront cost. Students can try Tap one session and then move to Hip Hop or Acro the next session.  It's a win-win situation: kids get to explore dance, and parents don't break the bank.
