Why Investing in Dance Classes at The Dancing House Pays Off for Life, Work, and Relationships
Why Investing in Dance Classes at The Dancing House Pays Off for Life, Work, and Relationships
As we flip the calendar to August, an exciting new season dawns upon us at The Dancing House. It's hard to believe we're celebrating our 15th year as the go-to dance studio in the St. Croix Valley for the art of dance. Time has flown by, yet every moment has been etched in unforgettable memories.
My journey with The Dancing House began in 2009 when I started the studio from the comfort of my home after welcoming baby #3. Originally named 180 Dance Studio, I focused on adult classes, but soon enough, my passion for teaching expanded, embracing students of all ages and offering more dance styles like Tap, Ballet, Baby and me, and Hip Hop.. As my family grew with the arrival of baby #4 and baby #5, so did our dance family.
In 2020, we proudly opened the doors to our current location, becoming our true dance haven. While some classes still take place in the home studio, the "big studio" has become our thriving heart. Along the way, we collaborated with Prima Boutique, added a company line, dance on demand, and expanded our program with even more classes like Jazz Lyrical, Acro fundamentals.
As a dancer, a dance mom, and a teacher to many little dancers, dance has gifted me countless life lessons. It taught me about beauty, resilience, the process of growth, and the power of persistence. The dance journey encompasses both sweet successes and challenging moments, where perseverance leads to glorious breakthroughs.
In the dance community, I found lifelong friends and cherished mentors whose words echo through the studio during my own teaching moments. Dance has shaped me not only as an artist but also as a businesswoman, instilling resourcefulness, adaptability, and unyielding determination.
Dance has been the stunning platform for my personal growth – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Now, I have the privilege of witnessing countless young hearts find joy in dance – be it for a class, a session, or a lifetime. Their happiness fills my heart with true bliss.
With a heart full of gratitude, I welcome this 15th year, knowing that the magic of dance will continue to touch lives and weave beautiful stories in our dance family. Together, we'll dance, leap, and embrace the wonders of the journey ahead!

A friend of mine once asked me “Why do you spend so much time, money and effort on dance classes?” I responded quite easily with: I don’t pay for dance lessons, shoes, uniforms or costumes.
She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face. To which I responded with:
“You’re right, I do pay the dance school, but I do not pay for dance classes.
I pay for those moments when my child becomes so tired they feel like quitting but doesn’t.
I pay for the extra opportunity for my child to make life-long friendships.
I pay for the chance that they may have amazing instructors that will teach my child that dance is not just about movement but about life.
I pay for my child to learn the meaning of discipline outside the home and how to incorporate that into their life.
I pay for my child to learn to take care of their body.
I pay for my child to learn the meaning of teamwork and how to be a proud, supportive, kind and respectful team member.
I pay for my child to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don’t get something they hoped for, or messed up a move they have practiced a thousand times, but still has the determination to do their BEST next time…
I pay for my child to learn to make and accomplish goals.
I pay for my child to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create an athlete, and that success does not happen overnight.
I pay so that my child can be in the studio instead of in front of a screen…
I could continue with my list, but to cut it short, I don’t pay for dance; I pay for the opportunities that dance provides my child to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their life and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others.
From what I have seen for many, many years of being the mom of a dancer, I think it is an investment in my child’s future!
